When to Quit

Let it ride poker

This game is based on risk, as you initially have to put down three stakes. However, you will get a chance to withdraw two of them, so don't panic just yet.

However, the minimum hand to win any money is a pair of tens, which is quite high for a winning hand in a poker game.

Playing the game
Each player is dealt three cards, and places a stake on each. At this point you look at your three and, if you aren't confident that the next two (in front of the dealer, face down) will go your way, you can withdraw one stake.

The dealer will turn over one of his cards, and at this point you may remove another stake.

Finally, the dealer will turn over his other card, and you find out what hand you can make. Winnings are decided based on the hands you have, as follows:

Pairs (10 or lower) None
Pairs (10 or more) 1:1
Two Pairs 2:1
3 of a Kind 3:1
Straight 5:1
Flush 8:1
Full house 11:1
4 Of a Kind 50:1
Straight Flush 200:1
Royal Flush 1000:1

Strategy
Unless in your first three cards you hold a pair that is 10 or higher, or any three cards that could make up part of a flush or straight, you should take back a bet.

Once the dealer has revealed the first of his cards, take a bet back unless you have a pair of 10s or higher, or four cards from a flush or straight.

This will give you the best possible odds of winning, though the odds on 'let 'em ride' poker aren't great, and you're likely to lose more than you win unless you're very lucky.
